This weeks themes are Doing, Appreciating, Designing, Humming, and Expecting.

Doing all my Sunday chores before 7am! I have been getting up at 5am every morning to work out before work. I have been thinking about doing it for a long time. I just can’t work out late at night and cant consistently fit it in anywhere else, but 5AM just sounded crazy. The weird thing is, its fine. I actually wake up more awake than I was before. Its nice to get that workout out of the way. Even though its the same amount of time I dont feel as rushed through our morning routine and I am remembering to do little things that make the evening easier – like taking food out of the freezer. So far, its win!

Today was my free day and I planned to just wake up whenever. Whenever ended up being 5:30 because the dogs were all “Hey! Hey! Hey You! Wake up! Its time to get up!” So I got up, and did all the things. No one else is awake yet. I will reward myself with a nap later.

Chopped Salad

I have never been a big salad eater but in the last year or so I have decided I love chopped salads. This has been my staple for lunch since starting Paleo. I start with Trader Joes Healthy 8 chopped Veggie mix or some Broccoli slaw, and then I add whatever other veggies i have. I add a piece of crumbled uncured bacon (The Ends and Pieces are Cheap at Trader joes). Last week I made caramelized onions and threw them in. They were so good I’m doing that again for this week. I have everything prepped on Sunday so I can just throw them together.  I put some greens in there most of the time. Today I am going to try to get some chopped greens or else chop some myself because I think I’d like more in there if they were chopped. Love how many veggies I can pack in with these and I seem to never get tired because they are easy to switch up.

Outfits – I have been working on a super fun knit outfit for the Project Run and Play sewalong this week. I just have some finishing touches this morning and will do a photoshoot later today. It has probably the most pieces Ive ever put in one outfit. Not exactly patchwork, but close. I can’t wait to share!

Humming along… Its now a few hours after I started this and I have been humming along on my finishing touches for the look I’m working on so I can share a sneak =)

Expecting a high of 81 degrees F today I just noticed. That sounds lovely for a winter photoshoot :p I think I will have to reward the little with ice cream for helping me out with this.

  1. Oh gosh, I cannot wait to see the whole outfit! It’s going to be amazing!
Also, those salads look amazing. I used to wake up super early to get my running in before I started my day but I’ve been staying up too late to get work done…and messing with my sleep schedule. I think I need to get back to it. It’s such a nice way to start the day and it doesn’t interrupt anything else that happens.

    1. Yeah, I’m hooked on getting up now though it was a little difficult this morning after sleeping in yesterday. I found after doing it a couple of days it was pretty impossible to stay up too late =)

The outfit is sooo cute on. We did the photoshoot yesterday. I took wayyy to many pictures though so it will probably take me 2 days just to pick 😛

    1. Right!! e had to turn on the air conditioner!! While I am glad we arent buried in snow, I’m not so ready for summer already.

    1. I’m in Austin, TX. 81 in Jan scares me. I don’t want 100s by spring! Paleo is going very well! It’s starting to feel completely normal. I feel a million times better than I did before. 1 month in I am down almost 20 lbs but even if I were not the benefits I’m getting in the way I feel for eating this way are enough on their own to want to stay course.

    1. They are sooo good. I was going to chop greens to go in mine this week but I found cruciferous crunch at trader joes that already had chopped kale in it. I also bought some Arugula which seems small enough on its own to not need chopping.

They are especially good when someone else does the chopping for you =)

  2. I applaud you changing your schedule to add the workout in at 5 am. What time do you go to bed? I need added motivation to get moving. The day is so jam packed. I’m taking pictures of your salads for inspiration. I keep getting bogged down with the same boring salads!

    1. I go to bed at 10 (asleep by 10:30 ) to get up by 5. I thought I would be super tired if I did that but I actually feel way more awake than going to bed at 11 and waking up at 6. Very strange to me I guess at 6 is catching me in a deep sleep cycle. I think dumping the sugar and grains is helping me wake up less groggy in general as I was already feeling a little better in the mornings before I started getting up early.
