Completing

Or rather not-completing. My sewing room overhaul is slow going at this point because I have so many projects going on. The goal is to get rid of that big IKEA shelf. Not shown is a smaller bookshelf full of fabric that will replace it. What’s left there is crates of notions and scraps I want to save. It’s the notions that will take most of the time at this point as they are small and you can cram a lot of them in a crate. I have new small clear storage in different colors and chalkboard labels for them. Elastic, buttons, zippers, ribbons. I hope to at least have them labeled and stuff going into them by next week.

Visiting

Planning a big visit home to Arkansas for spring break (mid-march) We will need to board the pets. I am right now looking into potentially sending them to a two week board and train program (doggy boarding school) and have that overlap the trip. I feel like I have failed these dogs from a training perspective.

Robin is our puppy but she is almost a year old now. We had two dogs for almost 20 years that we lost of old age in the year before we got her. With them we were young and had no small kids when we got them. We went though all the classes. They were trained well. I thought I could take that knowledge and train her at home because we do not have time in schedule for classes. I have not been successful with even getting her to sit. Huge mommy fail. Luckily she is a sweet dog and doesn’t have a lot of behavior problems but we would be able to include her in more things we do outside the home if she had schooling =)

Jasper is our rescue we got to help with puppy Robin when she was small and hyper and needed a playmate. He’s a couple years old and has had some training. He walks on leash well and follows basic commands. I would mostly send him for a refresher and so Robin won’t be lonely. Love my puppies.

Repeating

Bimaas! I have been on a bimaa making streak lately. I have had the pattern forever. I love the look but I had not gotten around to making one in the few YEARS I’ve had the pattern.  You will see the one I made for my daughter on the blog tomorrow and I have one for a very special guest post I’m doing next week. The rainbow one above is going out in the mail to my friend’s son. She is an amazing photographer in the St Louis area so if you need photos you should check her out! If we are lucky she will share a modeled pic with her adorable son with us. No pressure Crystal 😛

Writing

I am really loving this Sunday morning blogging. It fits in well with the Sunday morning routine I already had. When my daughter was born I made a deal with my husband that I would get up with her in the mornings on weekend days and let him sleep until 8:30. In exchange, I would get 9-11 to lock myself in our room for two hours. On Saturdays I might sew, or nap, or dye my hair and surf the web. My Sunday routine always starts with reflection and then goes to planning for the week (Schedule, Sewing, Meals, Grocery lists) when I am done we get ready for brunch and then go grocery shopping. Sunday Lately is a great fit for my reflection portion =)

Scheduling

Posts! Like Woah! I took a bit of a break through the holidays. I did some crafting. I made several things I did not blog, Bad Starly! 2016 has started off with a bang though. I have so many projects going on right now! I have been sewing up a storm, photographing, and scheduling posts. There will be a lot more going on here in the coming days, watch this space =)

  1. I LOVE that rainbow Bimaa! Even Pen commented “Ooohhh eety!”. Seb would love it too but I’m not showing him because the last thing I need is another project for him to bug me about right now. Good luck finished your sewing room organization. Mine started off on a good foot but a week later everything still looks like a hot mess. Ha!

  2. Hahaha Seb and his wishlist =) I might have my husband go ahead and take the big shelves away that way I’m forced to sort the notions or else they will just be in crates on the floor =)

    1. Oh, I’m not actually downsizing my stash, that would be tragic! Haha My problem with the ikea storage is it’s open back and I keep dropping stuff behind it. I am going to use the bookshelf for all my Stenzo and -stuff that goes with Stenzo- and the Rubbermaid All Access tubs for everything else. I do need one more tub I’ve decided… gotta have some growing room 😛

  3. The rainbow is so pretty!
We also have untrained dogs. Well, one is great. The other is THE WORST. Like, I hate taking her on walks because she has to be on a leash (or she’ll run away for hours and come back at her own convenience, covered in disgusting things that she’s rolled in) and it’s just the worst leash experience ever. We often talk about having a trainer come to us to help learn how to allow her to explore but still stay close.

    1. I can tell you having both….It’s soooo worth it to have them trained. That’s why I am doing the boarding school. It’s expensive but I know it will serve us well for many years. I know from reading lots of training sites recently looking for a trainer that off leash skills is a pretty common thing that they train for. I think it would certainly be worth it to have someone come out for that.

  4. That’s how I feel about my “completing,” too. I have all these things I want to do, and rooms to organize, and frankly, most the time I choose to nap or relax on the couch instead. Hopefully I’ll work up some motivation this weekend! Good luck with your sewing room!!

    1. Thank you! I think I have decided that it’s going to take some time, and that’s OK. I don’t have another long block of time to focus on it for a while so, bits and pieces..

    1. Thank you, they are adorable pups =) I agree, I am giving up feeling guilty. If the worst thing I do with them is let someone else help with training, thats not all that bad haha.

  5. I feel like I am in a constant state of organizing and then reorganizing. I guess that’s tjust the nature of bloggers/creative business people haha. Thanks so much for linking up! I am so happy we are a part of f your fun and relaxing weekend schedule.

  6. Have you ever read the sewing blog Lladybird? The blogger Lauren is my friend and I love her sewing room organization ideas… she has shelves just like yours too!

    1. Thank you Aubrey!! I had not seen Lladybird blog before but it is gorgeous! Her room is awesome too and she uses a lot of things I already have =)
