I had the pleasure of testing the new Adventure Skort from 5 Out Of 4 Patterns. Make sure to grab the pattern while it’s on sale for $7.95 until Tuesday June 23 at the 5 Out Of 4 Pattern Shop! On to the details!
The 5 Out Of 4 Patterns Adventure Skort is a knit wrap style skort pattern that comes in sizes XXS-3XL covering Hip sizes from 34-53 inches. The skirt portion of the skort comes in two lengths, a longer above the knee version and a shorter length for running, swimming, tennis etc. The shorts portion of the skort has 4 inseam lengths from 1.25 – 7 inches. The shorts feature a gusset for durability and ease of movement. There is a lower waist option suitable for maternity. The skort can be made as an all in one garment or you can choose to make skirt or shorts separately.
I tested the longer version of the skirt and the longest inseam of the shorts. The pattern requires 50% stretch and can be made in a variety of knit fabrics including cotton lycra, technical athletic fabrics, and swim fabric. I used cotton lycra for mine for a casual wear skort. I made the skirt portion of my skort from this adorable kitty print from Mabel Madison Fabrics.
For my shorts I used a cotton lycra stars print from L’oiseau Fabrics which gives a perfect contrast.
The skort is easy to put together and sews up fast. The no trim pages and layers option makes it speedy to get started. I’d leave about 2 hours for your first one but after that you can whip them up much quicker.
I really think this pattern is the bees knees. I was a little apprehensive because I typically wear my skirts longer. I am just not great at paying attention to how I’m sitting or whether I am flashing when bending over and I don’t want to have to think about it all day. The skort is super comfortable and I feel very confident wearing it at this length with the security the cute shorts provide. I have worn these all over in various activities from running errands to hiking in the woods. I love how you can be ready for any adventure in this skort! I am sewing up a couple more as they will be part of my summer weekend uniform. I also want to make the short version in swim fabric. Such a great option for running around chasing a 4 year old at the splash pads!
