The Greenstyle Laurel is one of my favorite Women’s Patterns. I think I own 6 of them. Its just a super flattering and versatile. I’ve made everything from a cowl neck dress to a summer tank style tunic with it. I was over the moon excited when I heard there would be a kids version, The Laurelette.
The Laurelette has a great size range, 12 months to 14 years. Options include 4 sleeves lengths plus an option for sleeveless, Tunic length, Dress Length, Hi-Lo Tunic or Dress. Cowl Neck, Regular neck binding, Fully pleated skirt, flat back skirt, and pockets! You can use these options to create a ton of different looks.
The Robot version above is a Cowl Neck Dress with pleats in both the front and back.
For the Fox version I used the Tunic Length and Regular Neck Binding.
I used the flat (non-pleated) back for the tunic.
The Robot, Foxes, and Stars (Sleeves on the Fox Tunic) are all Euroknits and came from L’oiseau Fabrics! I love all the fun prints and how beautiful they sew up each time. They are always huge hits around here =)
This is my Daphne from Scooby Doo inspired Laurelette that I did for the Project Run and Play 80’s Cartoon Week Sewalong. You can read my full post about it here. This one is a cowl neck dress version using the Hi-Low hem. The angle of the Hi-Lo in this one is so perfect!
The pattern instructions for the Laurelette are very thorough and easy to follow. It would be a great pattern for someone that is just starting out with knits. One of my favorite things about the Laurelette and the Laurel is how quick they are to sew up. I can go from printing the pattern to having a completed piece in less than an hour on this one!
Did I mention my daughter LOVES these?
