I had the pleasure of testing the new Reagan Romper from E-Beth Designs. I could just *squeeel* at the cuteness. I am so in love with this.
I have actually never made a romper before. I was pleasantly surprised at how quick and easy it went together. I cut out and sewed the whole thing in about two hours.
The bodice is gathered and has two straps that start from the top of the shorts. You can match them to your main print or use a contrast so they look like adorable little suspenders.
The back is halter style and uses elastic for the fit. I appreciate that. I will do shirring but my machine is pretty fidgety when it comes to loading elastic thread so it’s not always my first choice.
Pockets! My daughter and I are both huge suckers for pockets. These aren’t wimpy ones either. These big gathered pockets have held rocks, hot wheels, dolls, and even an apple! (I’m totally just realizing her shoes are on the wrong feet :P)
For the fabrics I chose this awesome spotted butterfly print from the lovely L’oiseau Fabrics. It didn’t use much at all so I have plenty left to make something for Mommy =) The shorts and straps are a thrift store sheet I have been saving forever. I was so thrilled when the butterflies arrived that the sheet made a perfect coordinate.
AAAh, too much cute really. Go get yourself the Reagan Romper and sew up some of this adorableness for your kiddo. It’s the perfect summertime play outfit. We will be adding a couple more of these to our summer wardrobe very soon.
