The Clover shorts came together easily and were fun to make up. I love the pleats and the little button belt loops =) So cute!!
I decided to turn the Aster into a top. I simply cut the front bodice on the fold at the first placket fold line. I then created an inverted pleat in the center to echo the pleats in the shorts. I added 2 inches to the length of both the front and back bodice piece.
The fabrics in the outfit except for the band on the hat are all Verhees fabrics, a Euro import from Mabel Madison. I am in love with these fabrics. The prints are so vivid and the range of texture is amazing! The Clover shorts were made using these Flocked Hearts on Poplin. The poplin is extra wide. I had a half yard and made the shorts and had leftovers for another outfit. The poplin is soft and nice and the hearts are textured, almost like velvet. I have never seen anything like this and now I want to make everything with it. I used this Ikat Print Jersey Knit for the top.
The hat is made in this gorgeous and super soft Paisley Nicky Velour. These rich colors are perfect for transitioning into fall. The shorts are great now and will be adorable under tights when it’s cooler. I love this outfit and I love that the individual pieces mix with several things we already have in her wardrobe. We will revisit these pieces mixed into other outfits through the season.
She was such a trooper today. We went out earlier and had a great photoshoot. Well, almost great, it would have been really great had there been a card in the camera. I cannot believe I didn’t notice!! Because of the huge Mom fail I knew she wouldn’t be up for much direction if I took her out again so I let her play with the white board, and just set the table out there to see if she would play with it. Happily it worked out really well. She really enjoyed doing art outside. We will have to do it more often.
